NEWPORT, Ark. (from Jonesboro Sun) -

The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction of a man from Newport for the death of his 23-month-old son.  The court rejected a claim by Richard Ingram, 25, that a juror was removed from the case without justification.

The state Supreme Court instead found there was "a clear justification" for removal because the juror violated the judge's order not to speak with any of the attorneys, parties or witnesses in the case about anything.  The juror was later seen during the trial talking with three witnesses and with a relative of Ingram.

Ingram was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the death of Damarrius Thomas in 2010.
