Pamela Hernandez, owner of Thrive Personal Fitness, is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and an ACE Certified Health Coach.

Her mission is to make the world a better and healthier place by finding simple solutions to real fitness problems.

On her web page Pamela writes, I have learned through education and a little trial and error a few simple truths that I would like to share with you:

Diets don’t work!

Diets are temporary. As you may have experienced in the past, you can lose weight by cutting calories to extremes or eating prepackaged overly processed portion controlled foods. The problem is when most people return to their “normal” eating habits the weight comes back with a little extra for good measure. Until you commit to changing your habits for a new “normal” you will continue to struggle.

You do not have to spend hours in the gym to be fit and healthy.

Don’t get me wrong, I like to exercise. I love the energy it gives me. But most of us don’t have the time to hang out there all day. We all have jobs, families, hobbies, school, etc. And you know what? That’s okay. It isn’t about quantity, it’s about quality. With the right tools you can get an effective workout in under an hour, often in only 30 minutes.

Society doesn’t support healthy lifestyle choices.

Fast food is everywhere. Time and budgets are tight. Your friends are constantly tempting you with baked goods to celebrate the latest office birthday, invitations to happy hour and candy bars for the school fundraiser. Somehow you’re the bad guy when you turn up your nose at the cake and cookies. When did that happen? Support is important in making lasting lifestyle changes. Exercise and nutrition are key, but you need strategies to cope. If you don’t take care of yourself you can’t adequately take care of others. If you’re tired and weak, you have no energy to give to those who you love the most. Would you rather get winded after 5 minutes on the playground with your kids or have the energy to play all afternoon? Would you rather have some energy left at the end of the day to give extra attention to your spouse or partner instead of falling exhausted into bed? Giving some extra attention to your health can boost your energy levels and actually let you give more quality time to others, not less.

My goals and philosophy are simple.

I believe that everyone wants, and deserves, to be healthy and fit. But there is a lack of support and sound information to help people achieve that goal. I know as a trainer our exercise sessions are only a few hours a week. I also want to give you the tools and support to help you navigate the other hours in the week. With my training services you not only get a personalized workout but also a plan with nutrition advice and strategies to help stay motivated and on track. I believe fitness is a lifestyle. If you are looking for a quick fix, I am not the trainer for you. However if you are really ready to make a change, a commitment, then I am the trainer you are looking for. Through education and hard work I will put you on the road to becoming the happy, healthy and fit person you deserve to be.
